Beautiful Black Iconic Josephine wedding ball gown. Worn once in June for my wedding. The Josephine dress is a v-neck halter ball gown with chantilly lace bodice and distressed organza and shadow lace flowers at the neck. The gorgeous black multi-layered crinkle tulle skirt sits atop layers of beige tulle. Vera Wang doesn't usually do a completely exposed back, but with the Josephine, a woman's back becomes a tremendously magnetic display. In this halter ball gown, the bride's back really contrasts with the collection of three big deconstructed rosettes right at her neck, done in distressed organza. The rosettes form almost a ruff, or a halo--very gorgeous and dreamy. In the black gown, which is so moody, there's an effect almost like an empress, or a dramatic sorceress. You can read more about the dress in Vera Wang's own words as she herself describes it on her blog "Behind the Dress." The fabric has a naturally wrinkled and voluminous texture and the folds in the tulle can be arranged as you wish, very fluffy or dropping down naturally from your waist. I am 5'11" and wore 2 inch heels, the dress in total length is 70-75 inches. The original length of the dress has not been altered so if you are shorter, there is plenty of room to adjust the length or to keep it long to accomodate higher heels. The dress comes in its original dress sleeve, with its certificate of authenticity. I barely had any alterations: 1. Added cups in the bust to cater for my smaller breasts. They were delicately sawn in and can easily be removed. 2. The black tulle overlapping the first layer of beige Tulle had a 1inch overlay fold passing horizontally across the front of the waist. I had that 1 inch fold untied on one end, to unfold it and let it drop sideways, as it over-emphasized the front of my waistline. It allowed the dress to drop more naturally and gave it a nice asymmetrical front line. Beautiful Black Iconic Josephine wedding ball gown. The overall size and waist line of the dress were not altered so this dress is still very much in the same size as when it was purchased. I would say it has a street size of 10 to 12 and can easily adjust to any size thanks to its Empire waist line.
